Creating your own Counterstrike 1.6 server

A first-person shooter game, counter strike was developed by Valve Corporation. Since its release the game has expanded itself into many different series starting from Counter Strike Condition-zero to counter strike: Global offensive. It is a strategy game which consists of two parties pitted against each other with a series of rounds; one of the team is a terrorist and the other a counter-terrorist. The player proceeds to the next round by accomplishing the objective of the given mission or by eliminating its opponent team. Many different versions have been released with version 1.6 being the latest released on 15^th September 2003.

As the game itself is so attractive you might want to set up your own server. However, you might be thinking that setting up a server is a tricky job when in reality it is not. Going into the bandwidth requirements, you will first be requiring a bandwidth server of as little as 256-384kbps. This means the DSL you are currently using is enough for this purpose. Your bandwidth requirement depends on the size of the server that you want. 6KB per player slot is enough; however this depends on how you adjust the CVARS in HL/CS.

Next follows the hardware requirements. An insufficient hardware is equal to low bandwidth for your server. Because of the advent of Steam, the system requirements have increased too. However hardware requirement also depends on the size of the server you are planning to make. You will need sufficient hardware space because the server performs heavy loads and low hard disk would result in slower response time.

Moving on to the method of creating your own server, get hlds_v1120.exe by downloading it, scan it and make sure that it contains no viruses. After this, click on it and install it in your counter strike 1.6 folder. After this, go into the HLServer. There you will find ClientRegistry.blob. Delete it. After this, just copy the hlds.exe file to your HLServer folder and shift it to your desktop.

There are a lot of pros and cons attached to home servers, such as you will need to keep your server open for 24 hours. If you are downloading something, your server will slow down because the internet speed will be effected causing the server to lag. Also, when you are not using a static Ip, your players will not be able to save your IP address.

It is better to order your server from companies who offer game hosting because they have more advantages than disadvantages. The disadvantages are that it’s not free and you don’t have a control over your content, you manage your server through file transfer protocol (FTP server). Therefore, looking at the pros and cons of both, you are equipped enough to decide which server would result being the best for you. So you need to be a bit careful in the selection and once you are at the right track just start playing and enjoy the ever exciting experience.

Counter Strike: Online Vs. LAN

Counter strike is an entertaining game that is famous worldwide. The game is a production of valve cooperation and it is mostly renowned for its multiplayer gameplay. Counter strike is a first person shooter game. Gameplay involves two teams, namely, terrorists and the counter terrorists. Mission of game is killing all the opponent players or fulfills the required map objective such as rescuing the hostages from terrorists, preventing terrorists from bombing the area, etc. The game requires the gamer to be aware and have sharp reflexes; therefore a lag (common term used for a slow response of the computer) in the game is completely unacceptable.

The game must have a steady speed and must provide the user best quality output in order for the gamer to fully perform in counterstrike. In multiplayer gaming the probability of smooth flow of game sometimes becomes harder to achieve because even if your computer is providing efficient result one of the other gamers computer might lag. All the players need to have computers perfectly compatible to this game in order to have a normal gameplay. But another question arises when we talk about multiplying counter strike; is it better to play “Online” or through “LAN connection”.

Many people prefer to play with LAN connection because it provides a stable ping for every user, therefore allowing the game not to get stuck. LAN basically stands for local area network, which also provides the users a smooth gameplay with less risk involved because the gamers playing counterstrike are connected through a stable network. On the other hand internet connection may get disrupted due to various reasons. Some gamer might not even have a good network connection therefore preventing him to play the game properly and also showing a lag to other users on his bot (the person being controlled by the gamer).

Sometimes it also becomes convenient to game while sitting at home. Internet provides an opportunity to the users to play while being miles apart. Through internet one can game with people sitting even in other countries. LAN covers only a limited area therefore making it compulsory for the gamers to game in close quarters. Internet does not face this limitation and therefore is better from this perspective.

One reason that also provokes people one to play on LAN instead of on internet is that even though internet allows people to play sitting miles apart, people playing on internet often do not know each other. LAN allows you to play with people you know and are friends with.

Now even though internet may not allow you to game with people whom you might know, but this is not a warranted reason to decide whether to game online or on LAN, because one might not even play with his friends even while sitting in a gaming zone that operates on LAN, and one might even get to play with friends online by making a private room.

So playing online or on LAN is a personal choice of users depending on their situation and requirements.

Counter Strike is one of the first multiplayer first-person shooter (fps) games to be released and is still one of the most popular games available. It originated from the critically acclaimed game,’ Half Life’, and has seen much iteration since its initial release. The game pits players in a tactical team based environment, where one team wins by successfully completing the objectives for the game type or by completely eliminating the opposing team. What are the main missions in Counter Strike 1.6

The game Counter Strike 1.6 is amazing game and became very popular in very first phase of its launch. It was around year 2000 because firstly it was presented on year 1999 when it was made as an additional game for Half Life.

The main goal in the game is to win the opponent by smarter tactics, better performance and so on. To play the game there should be at least to players but then it is only one on one and it hard to play the game in such way because maps are pretty big usually and sometimes it will take very long time to find an opponent.

The game itself can be played with computer as well (with so called bots) which are computer but mostly this game was very popular because you could play against your friends, you could play it with your friends in one team against other players but mostly it was played in multiplayer style. On internet or LAN.

There are two teams in the game which are trying to complete their mission. One of the team is counter terrorists (like police or special forces) and against them there are terrorists.

The main tasks for counter terrorists:

One of the main tasks is to protect their base from the opponent which can plant a bomb in their base and blow it up. If the opponent complete that, round ends and terrorists win the round. This is not a very easy task because usually everyone runs around the map and tries to kill their enemies. If the bomb is already planted, counter terrorists can neutralize it but it takes time and while you are doing that, you cannot shoot or do anything else. It means that opponent can easily kill you while you are neutralizing the bomb;
Other task is to get hostages from the terrorist base and get them back to your base where you begin the game. It is usually very hard because it is hard to hide 4 hostages and terrorists can easily see you when you run together with them. Taking by one, it is always too long and mostly it is hard to run 4 times to terrorist base without meeting an opponent;
And the last one is, if you kill all of your enemies, then you win the round and you can start to prepare for a new one.

The main tasks for terrorists:

The situation is pretty similar that is already explained above. Terrorists should plant the bomb in counter terrorist base and blow it;
They should protect hostages that counter terrorists won’t take them easily away and win the round because when hostages are take back to counter terrorist base, the round ends and counter terrorists win;
The last one is the same for both parties. If one of the teams manage to kill all of their enemies during the given time of the round then they win the round and get some extra cash for buying new weapons or bullets in the next round.

Do you remember good times when you came from school and you didn’t care anything else than just a good Counter Strike game with your friends online?

Now you probably are in your 20-ies and thinking more about career, family and future. We are here to bring the game back. We all know that Counter Strike will always be one of our favorite games so we do everything that is possible to play sometime with our friends.

For those who don’t know the game, let me introduce you to a game which still is quite popular and people are willing to play.

It is interesting that you can play the same man but with different people and you won’t feel like sick of the game because nothing changes. Always new player to the game is new experience for the players and they are enjoying every strategy that they can create;
The main idea of the game: there are two teams fighting for the goal which they have. There are terrorists and counter terrorists. The goal for terrorists is to plant a bomb in counter terrorist base and blow it up. So counter terrorists should protect their base that terrorists couldn’t plant the bomb and accomplish their mission;
There are around 60 rounds in each map but this number can vary in different servers because every server provider can change it;
Every player collect their own stats in each map. So you can see how many terrorists/counter terrorists you’ve already killed, depends on which side you’re playing.
There are many guns, bombs, pistols and even a knife to complete your task. But all of them should be earned. And you can earn extra money by killing the enemy or completing a round by staying alive and by other ways.
When you are playing the game, you should be careful because you can kill your team members and you will get a penalty for that. You will lose part of your money (maximum you can get is $16 000) and it will be much more difficult to win the game if predominance is in your competitor hands.
The good thing is, when you don’t have enough money to buy weapons, you can follow the others and when they kill someone, you can get free weapon.

I wouldn’t suggest to play this game for kids because it is very aggressive and all the time someone gets killed. This is the main games idea.

People love the thing that weapons are like in real life and everything is created to feel like you are actually in the game. You don’t have to have newest computer to play the game because it is already old and most likely the only problem you can meet today is operating system which cannot support such game because it is just too old.

If this is the first time you hear about the game, I think it is time you to try it, then you will understand what I am talking about and why people are so crazy about it.
